The Bonafide SS127 is a paddle-powered sit-on-top fishing kayak for anglers who want a stable standing platform without moving to a pedal or powered hull. At 12’7″ long and 33.75″ wide it is narrow enough to paddle and track efficiently through a full day, while the hybrid cat hull and PerchPads give you somewhere to stand and cast from. It suits open lakes, larger ponds and protected water.
What is the practical difference between the Bonafide SS127 and the Bonafide SS107?
The Bonafide SS127 is the longer, higher-capacity hull and the Bonafide SS107 is the more manageable one. The SS127 is 12’7″ and 33.75″ wide with a 475 lb capacity; the SS107 is 10’7″ and 34.5″ wide with 425 lb. In practice the extra two feet buy glide and tracking on open water, while the shorter hull turns more readily and is easier to store, load and handle alone.
Which water conditions suit the Bonafide SS127?
The Bonafide SS127 is most at home on lakes, ponds, slower rivers and protected inshore water. It is a paddle hull, so wind, chop, current and distance are worked against by you rather than by a drive, and that changes how far out it is sensible to go. Match the day to your own fitness and experience, and think about the paddle back against a wind that gets up.
How much does the Bonafide SS127 weigh?
The Bonafide SS127 has a fitted hull weight of 69 lbs and a fully rigged weight of 94 lbs. The rigged figure is the one to plan lifting around, and taking the seat out brings it down. Whether rooftop transport is practical depends on your vehicle’s roof-load limit, your rack capacity, whether you use a loading aid and your own lifting ability. Once the kayak is rigged, a cart or trailer is usually the easier answer.
How much weight can the Bonafide SS127 carry?
The Bonafide SS127 has a published capacity of 475 pounds, covering the kayak, the paddler and the gear together rather than the person alone. Account for the rigged kayak, any batteries and electronics, your tackle and the rest of your cargo, and leave an appropriate margin instead of planning to run at the maximum. Capacity is the point at which performance falls away, not a point of failure.
Can you stand up and fish from the Bonafide SS127?
The Bonafide SS127 is designed to be stood on and fished from, with a hybrid cat hull, deck traction pads and PerchPads on top of the gunwales. How stable it feels is not a fixed property of the kayak: it changes with your height and weight, where your gear sits, wind, chop, boat wake and practice. Build up in calm, shallow water before relying on it in exposed conditions.
How does the Bonafide SS127 HiRise seat switch between high and low positions?
The Bonafide SS127 seat moves between two positions using the SeatRack system and a foldable frame, quickly and without tools. The high setting puts you in a knees-bent, bass-boat posture that takes pressure off your lower back and lifts your sightline for casting. The low setting drops your center of gravity and suits digging in to cover distance or paddling into a headwind. This lets the paddler choose the position that better fits the conditions and paddling task.
How does the Bonafide SS127 DryPod support a fishfinder and transducer?
The Bonafide SS127 DryPod is a sealed housing integrated with the Doubleheader hinge and paired with a through-hull transducer scupper. The display mounts on top, the battery sits protected inside, and the transducer passes through the scupper rather than through a hole you drill. That combination is what makes a clean fishfinder installation possible on a paddle kayak. The fishfinder, transducer and battery are not included.
Is the Bonafide SS127 motor-compatible and Power-Pole ready?
The Bonafide SS127 is Power-Pole Micro Anchor ready, with the anchor itself sold separately, and SkyHooks are not fitted to stock SS Series kayaks even though rigged photographs often show them. No motor mount or maximum motor rating is published for this hull, so we do not state one. If a powered setup is what you want, the Bonafide PWR129 is the hull designed around motorization.
What warranty applies to the Bonafide SS127, and how do you make a claim?
The Bonafide SS127 hull carries a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original retail customer, and components are covered for one year. Registration within 14 days of purchase activates coverage. Claims start with the dealer you bought from, which is us, and you will need proof of purchase, the model and hull serial number, a description and photographs. Damage from ratchet straps or a winch system is excluded, and eligibility is decided under the Bonafide warranty terms rather than by us.
