The beloved Jackson Kayak Big Rig has returned, this time fully integrated with our Mark IV Flex Drive System. Our highest solo capacity kayak, the Big Rig FD is for those who want to bring everything and the kitchen sink out on the water and yet enjoy the stability and fishability only our Big Rig series can provide.
The Big Rig FD boasts an enormous capacity and is well-suited for lakes, large, lazy rivers and inshore saltwater applications. Bring all the gear you’d like – we’re hauling it, with the Big Rig FD.
Every model in our 2026 fishing lineup now comes equipped with the Jackson Kayak Comfort Seat 5.0. Designed with a deeper ergonomic base for better posture and lower center of gravity, the 5.0 delivers improved support, increased comfort, and a more connected feel on the water. Its the most advanced version of our iconic seat system, now standard across the board.
Who is the Jackson Big Rig FD designed for?
The Jackson Big Rig FD is designed for anglers who want a wide, stable deck and room for a heavy gear load on lakes, slow rivers and inshore saltwater. It is 13’3″ long and 40″ wide with a 550 lb capacity. That beam favors open water and flats. In fast or technical current, a shorter paddle hull turns more readily in tight spaces.
How much weight can the Jackson Big Rig FD carry?
The Jackson Big Rig FD has a maximum capacity of 550 lbs. Count everything that goes aboard: the paddler, the seat, the Flex Drive Mark IV, any motor, batteries, electronics, tackle and safety gear. The published capacity is a single figure and is not broken out into hull, seat and drive allowances, so leave real margin below it. Our guide to choosing a fishing kayak for bigger anglers walks through that arithmetic.
How much does the Jackson Big Rig FD weigh, and how do I transport it?
The Jackson Big Rig FD weighs 130 lbs bare, 136 lbs with the seat and 149 lbs with the seat and drive fitted. Remove the upper drive unit for transport and secure the lower unit fully retracted. Then match the loading method to the equipment you actually have: confirm the roof load rating for your vehicle, the ratings for your rack, crossbars, cart or trailer, and who is available to help.
What drive does the Jackson Big Rig FD use, and is it included?
The Jackson Big Rig FD includes the Flex Drive Mark IV pedal system and the Comfort Seat 5.0 on 2026 models. The drive has a mid position for shallower water and retracts fully for launching, landing and transport. Drive coverage runs two years, separate from the hull, for the original purchaser only, and the boat must be registered on Jackson’s website within two weeks of purchase. Full terms are in the Flex Drive Mark IV owner’s manual.
Can I stand and fish from the Jackson Big Rig FD?
The Jackson Big Rig FD has a 40″ beam and molded deck pads across an open standing area, which is what the hull was shaped for. No standing weight limit and no standing condition limit is published for the model, so it stays your own judgment call. Keep heavy gear low and centered, and expect wind, boat wake and current to change what is reasonable on any given day.
How should I clean and store the Jackson Big Rig FD?
Rinse the Jackson Big Rig FD with fresh water after every saltwater trip, paying attention to the drive well, the gear tracks and the hatch seals, then dry it before storage. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight and support the hull evenly rather than resting it on one bar. Rinse and dry the Flex Drive Mark IV separately. Damage from not caring for the kayak as instructed falls outside warranty coverage.
What does the Jackson Big Rig FD warranty cover?
Two warranties apply to the Jackson Big Rig FD. The hull limited warranty runs three years for the original purchaser of a new kayak from an authorized dealer, is nontransferable and requires proof of purchase: year one repair or replacement at no charge with free shipping, year two a replacement build at 70% off retail plus shipping, year three 50% of MSRP plus shipping. Fishing and exploration replacement builds exclude seats and drives in all three years. The Flex Drive Mark IV is warranted separately for two years, original purchaser only, nontransferable, and the boat must be registered on Jackson’s website within two weeks of purchase.
