FullDrag X8 is YGK’s heavy-duty offshore braid, and the current version is a substantial step up on the original Ultra Castman FullDrag it replaced. The move to a newer generation of ultra-fine filaments lifts breaking strain by roughly 60 per cent for the same PE rating, which is why the lb ratings on these spools look high next to most braids of the same diameter.

YGK’s GP-D treatment is applied to take the stretch out of the finished line, so a long drop or a deep jig still transmits enough directly to the rod tip to drive hooks home. The WX braiding process pulls the eight carriers into a tight, round, compact body with less diameter than a conventionally braided line of the same strength, and a thin silicone surface coating keeps it slick through the guides on the cast and free of the squeak and drag that thicker braids pick up.

Those ultra-fine filaments also give the line a long working life with very little memory. Finished in orchid white on 300m spools, it suits jigging, popping, deep dropping and general offshore work where the drag spends a lot of time locked up.
