Shimano Current Sniper Stickbaits

Bullet casts. Sinking action. Shimano’s answer to Japanese stickbaits.

The Shimano Current Sniper Sinking Stickbait brings Shimano’s Propulsion Weight Transfer System to a sinking stickbait that casts well beyond what its size suggests. Built through-wired for serious gamefish, with a tight wobble on the sink and a darting action on a sharp retrieve, the Current Sniper is the lure for working stripers, bluefish, and small tuna chasing peanut bunker and other small baitfish along the coast.

Rigging & Use

• Cast and count down to working depth based on what fish are showing
• Sharp rod twitches create the dart-and-pause action that triggers strikes
• Steady medium retrieve for fish chasing bait near the surface
• For bigger gamefish (big striper, tuna), upgrade the stock hooks to a 4X-strong replacement
• 120mm is the all-around sweet spot; 140mm for bigger fish on bigger bait

Why We Like It

Premium Japanese-style stickbaits used to cost $50+. Shimano’s Current Sniper brings that casting performance and through-wired construction to a much more reasonable price point. We swap to heavier hooks if going after big stripers or tuna, but right out of the package these are a long-cast workhorse for the price. A smart pick for the angler who wants stickbait performance without the boutique price.
