The Scientific Anglers Stillwater Seamless Density Sink Fly Line is a blended density sinking lake line for better contact with the fly. The head sinks faster than the running line, and the two densities blend with no hinge. It comes in three sink rates, from just under the chop to the bottom.
S1/S3 – An intermediate (1.25 ips) running line and a Sink 3 (3.0 ips) head. This version gets flies under the surface chop.
S3/S5 – A Sink 3 running line and a Sink 5 (5.0 ips) head. This version searches the middle of the water column.
S5/S7 – A Sink 5 running line and a Sink 7 (7.0 ips) head. This is the fastest sinking line in the series, for dredging the bottom.
SA rates the Stillwater series for cold to moderate fresh water. It is a lake and pond line for trout.
The Stillwater Seamless Density Sink is a weight-forward line with a 45′ head and a 100′ total length. SA overweights it by two line weights to carry multiple flies and long leaders and to make longer casts. The first 30′ of the 5-weight weighs 185gr, the weight of a standard 7-weight. It comes in 5 through 8 weight.
Seamless Density – The densities blend into each other with no abrupt step. This removes the hinge between sections and gives you a straight-line connection to the fly.
Textured Hang Markers – Textured markers sit 10′ and 20′ from the tip. You can feel them on the retrieve and hold the flies in the hang before you lift.
AST Plus – SA mixes its AST Plus slickness additive into the coating. The slicker surface shoots farther and holds up longer than a standard coating.
SA Line ID – The line is printed with “SA STILLWATER SD WF X S# S#” (X is the line weight). You can tell spools apart at a glance.
Welded Loops – Welded loops make leader and backing connections quick.
