Mustad 9430-DS 5X Strong DuraSteel Treble Hooks – 25 pack

5X strong. DuraSteel finish. The heaviest treble in the bag.

The Mustad 9430-DS is the heavyweight treble 5X strong wire, which sits between a VMC 4X and a VMC 6X treble in size and weight, with the DuraSteel finish for serious corrosion resistance. This is the hook you reach for when targeting truly big fish on big plugs, when stock or 4X trebles are getting straightened, or when you want the most hook a plug can take without killing its action. 25-pack pricing makes plug-bag-wide upgrades affordable.

Rigging & Use

• Match hook size to stock hook size on the plug
• Step up one size for trophy-class fish (40+ inch striper, big tuna, big tarpon)
• Pair with Owner Hyper Wire or equivalent heavy-duty split rings the hook is only as strong as the ring connecting it
• Touch up the points after every fish; even DuraSteel benefits from a quick stroke with a hook file
• For comparison: at 4/0, a 9430-DS weighs 6.8g vs a VMC 4X at 4.4g and a VMC 6X at 5.3g the 9430-DS adds noticeable weight to the plug
