MicroSport Off-Road LowBed Trailer

The MicroSport Off-Road Trailer is full submersible and offers a unique black powder coat over a pre-galvanzied steelframe creating one of the most rust-preventive coatings in the industry. This trailer is identical to the base MicroSport Off-Road trailer except with lowered crossbars for ease of loading. Each kit is comprised of a sturdy steel tongue, a plug-&-play LED submersible lighting system that meets DOT standards, 78″ steel load bars, and large oversized pontoon tires. With the use of common tools, assembly can be accomplished in around three to four hours. Backed by a Five-Year Limited Warranty and proudly crafted in the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this and the standard Off-Road trailer?

Loading height, and nothing else of substance. This trailer is identical to the base MicroSport Off-Road except that the crossbars have been lowered: the 78-inch load bars sit 22 inches from the ground rather than 30.

Everything else carries across the 800-pound rating, boats up to 20 feet, the black powder coat over pre-galvanized steel, oversized pontoon tires, full submersibility, the adjustable 44-to-63-inch bar spread and DOT-approved submersible LED lighting. Empty weight is 195 pounds.

Why does the lower loading position matter?

Because a heavy fishing kayak can be slid onto a 22-inch bar rather than lifted to 30. If you load alone, or load at the end of a long day on the water, that changes the job substantially.

The trailer can also be backed down a ramp so boats launch directly into the water, removing the carry altogether. Ramp surfaces vary and every submersion asks more of the bearings and hardware, so rinse afterwards and keep to the service schedule in your documentation.

What does off-road capable mean for this trailer?

It is built for the rough, wet ground between the road and the water gravel tracks, sand, eroded ramp approaches. Oversized pontoon tires spread the load on soft surfaces, and the powder coat over pre-galvanized steel handles repeated wetting.

It is not a promise that the trailer will cope with every surface or every route. Clearance is lower on a LowBed than on the standard Off-Road by definition, so watch ruts, rocks and steep approach angles. Load, tire condition, weather, your tow vehicle, posted limits and local restrictions all still apply.

What is included?

The LowBed Off-Road chassis with lowered crossbars, oversized pontoon wheels on pre-assembled marine-grade sealed hubs, the reinforced steel tongue, a DOT and Transport Canada approved plug-and-play submersible LED light kit, the 78-inch square steel load bars with D-ring tie-downs, and the instruction manual with registration documentation.

No boat carriers and no spare tire are included at this configuration. It arrives as a multi-boxed item, typically five cartons.

How much can it carry?

800 pounds in total, covering canoes and kayaks up to 20 feet. That total is the controlling limit for the whole load at once boats, carriers or bunks, straps, storage and gear.

It is not a per-boat allowance. If you fit a carrier rated higher than the trailer’s remaining capacity, the trailer’s 800-pound limit still governs the complete load; a stronger carrier never raises what the chassis is approved to carry. Tow vehicle and hitch limits apply separately and the lowest number wins.

Which carriers fit the lowered bars?

The 78-inch bars take padded bunks, saddles, wing-style carriers, J-cradles and FoldAway-J folding carriers, with the 44-to-63-inch adjustable spread letting you place support where the hull is strongest.

Bunks and saddles suit heavy boats with flat, pontoon or irregular bottoms, which is the load a low bar height is most useful for; cradles and folding J-carriers suit lighter V-hulled boats. Not every trailer accessory in the Malone range fits every trailer, so confirm compatibility before ordering. Browse Malone accessories or send us your boats.

What hitch hardware does it need?

The trailer coupler requires a 2-inch-diameter hitch ball, and the top of that ball should sit 18 inches from the ground so the trailer tows level. That is the trailer’s side of the connection. Lighting is a DOT-approved plug-and-play submersible LED kit, so confirm your vehicle’s connector matches.

Your vehicle needs a hitch with a receiver, a ball mount that fits that receiver, and a 2-inch ball fitted to the ball mount. A receiver does not take a ball directly, and receiver size is a separate matter from ball diameter a 2-inch ball does not mean you need a 2-inch receiver. Hitch, receiver, ball mount, ball and tow vehicle must each be rated for the loaded trailer, and the lowest rating in that chain governs.

What maintenance does it need?

Before every trip: lights, coupler seated and pinned, crossed safety chains, lug nuts, tire condition, and all straps. Service the wheel bearings on the schedule in your trailer’s documentation being submersible is not the same as being maintenance-free, and repeated immersion is precisely why that schedule exists. Rinse frame, wheels and hardware with fresh water after salt water, mud or road salt, and check the powder coat for chips after rough trips.

Inflate to the Malone-recommended cold pressure for this trailer, 35 to 40 PSI, checked before towing while the tires are cold, and follow the trailer documentation and current manufacturer specification. A sidewall maximum is not the recommended operating pressure read the sidewall for tire size, load range and maximum limits, not for the figure to inflate to.

What warranty applies, and what do I need to register?
