Whether its the first Grannum hatch of the season or a small emergence of green caddis on a fall afternoon, the Jigged Caddis Pupa Fly will help get you onto fish. Caddis are a very diverse group of aquatic insects consisting of nearly 1,500 different species, and because they often make homes out of trout streams, this is an important fly to have on hand almost anywhere you go. A simple design that imitates a caddis pupa, the Jigged Caddis Pupa is tied with a flash ribbed dubbing body, soft hackle collar, bead head, and is tied on a jig hook to prevent snags and hangs. Just enough flash with the right amount of movement, this fly is an excellent choice anytime that you notice caddis emerging.

Since caddis undergoes a complete metamorphosis, their pupal stage is an important food source, so youll want to fish this fly whenever you notice caddis emerging. The Jigged Caddis Pupa can be dead drifted or swung downstream to imitate the naturals emerging, and its a good idea to carry this fly in sizes 12-16 to easily match the size of your fly to the size of the caddis you see. A fly thats worth carrying from the start of spring through the end of fall, the Jigged Caddis Pupa will have you ready for any hatch that comes your way.
