Berkley J-Walker

Tail-weighted topwater. Fusion19 hooks. The everyday walking plug.

The Berkley J-Walker is the everyday walking plug that punches well above its price point a tail-weighted topwater refined through countless prototypes to deliver the casting distance and easy walk-the-dog action that triggers strikes from stripers, blues, snook, and bass. The hydrodynamic shape and precision balance point mean the lure walks the dog with minimal rod input, which makes it forgiving for less-experienced anglers and efficient for experienced ones over a long session. Upgraded with Berkley’s Fusion19 anti-rust hooks sharper than typical factory hooks and ready to fish out of the package.

Why We Like It

Walking plugs at $7 with this build quality are rare. Most plugs in this price range come with factory hooks that need an immediate upgrade to be fishable on big fish, but the Fusion19 hooks are actually sharp out of the package you can fish these straight away. The 120mm in Bone is the everyday Northeast striper pick, and at this price you can stock half a dozen colors without thinking twice. Berkley’s done good work tuning the action; this lure walks easier than most plugs we’ve fished at any price.
